Shopping
Shopping in Sharm is roughly divided into two categories: The Old Market vs. the shopping malls of the town.
If you are looking for some affordable souvenirs to take home, if spices, perfumes, oils and belly-dancing suits are all you are looking for – then the Old Market is the place you need. There you will be able to save money, as the sales people are making huge discounts, and you will also be able to feel the great atmosphere of the place. Bear in mind though that most of the shops will not accept visas or other credit cards, so cash is absolutely a must. The Old Market presupposes another factor as well, namely: modest clothing. Try not to attract attention with extremely short skirts, or attractive tops, the sellers are conservative people, so please respect the traditions of the place.
The shopping malls of the town offer you a great variety of products. And here we are not only talking about souvenirs. Clothes, sunglasses, shoes and bags are all found in these malls. The quality is much higher than in the Old Market, though fakes are, unfortunately, a common case as well. So check every product before buying it.
Unlike the Old Market, the shopping malls accept credit cards, but the prices on every product are higher, so set your priorities.
